Online retailer Topgeschenken Nederland has chosen IT service provider Fullstaq to boost and realize its Google Cloud ambitions. Fullstaq’s engineers will help the in-house team to design and implement the platform and software architecture. The migration is an essential step for Topgeschenken Nederland to respond more quickly to market needs and seasonal peak loads.
Scalable and Cost-Efficient Platform
Topgeschenken Nederland wants to innovate faster and easier with its software. Combining Google Cloud with containers and Kubernetes provides a solid foundation to future-proof the four online shops (Topgeschenken.nl, Topbloemen.nl, Topfruit.nl, and Toptaarten.nl). Furthermore, the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) enables the organization to easily expand capacity for high volume web traffic and quickly deploy new applications. This is an important step to respond more rapidly to the wishes and demands from the market and to guarantee a user-friendly environment for visitors — scalability at the right time is essential.
“Due to seasonal peaks and large increases in web traffic around holidays, such as Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day, we need a scalable, stable, and flexible platform. Especially during extra heavy loads, but without impacting the delivery of new features,” explains Christian van Dulmen, Head of IT at Topgeschenken Nederland. “The choice to set up Kubernetes on the Google Cloud Platform was an easy one. The platform allows us to scale up when needed, which also makes it extremely cost-efficient. In addition, the platform offers a lot of possibilities and options. Finally, the easy adoption with our technical environment was an important factor.”
Four Webshops to the Google Cloud — in Just Six Months
Topgeschenken Nederland is an ambitious e-commerce player: all webshops will be fully migrated to the Google Cloud Platform within six months. Fullstaq is the organization’s migration partner, as the proposed project approach impressed Topgeschenken Nederland. Van Dulmen: “Driven by clear agreements and milestones, we work towards an optimal environment for our software. Fullstaq has the knowledge to help us do so. Simultaneously, they train our developers and administrators using the Kubernetes platform so that we start working as effectively as possible from the get-go.”
